Our owner and lead engineer. John has 45 years of experience in audio recording, production, and mixing sound both live and in the studio. He has earned a reputation for producing the best possible results at live events in West Michigan.
Jerry has 15 years experience mixing sound at live events. He is also a freelance studio and stage musician as well as a recording and studio engineer. He performs with Y-Not, Hannah Rose Graves, Hawks and Owls, and many more. He has the experience necessary to setup and run a big show and make it sound great.
He's been featured on a number of albums and has performed at Electric Forest and SXSW.
10 years experience mixing live music. Former Recording and Live Engineer for Warren Wilson College Sound Lab. Private music instructor on violin, piano, guitar, and bass.
Sugar is in charge of artist relations and stage management. She's an expert at crisis mitigation. She is also the most photographed dog in Michigan.
This is a letter of recommendation for John Wenger of Clear Sky Technologies. For the past several years I have had the pleasure of working with John on numerous occasions and in various roles. John has provided sound reinforcement services for the City of Fennville for stage performances at our annual Goose festival as well as other special events. He also is the sound engineer at my performance venue Salt of the Earth, also in Fennville. And finally, I’ve had the pleasure of working with John as a performer myself.
On each occasion, John has exhibited professionalism and flexibility. He’s always prepared for whatever act is on the bill and has the gear ready to go in a timely manner. As he is a musician himself, he has a good grasp on how to reproduce a singer or instrumentalist’s tone and style, and not just making it ‘loud enough’. It is a pleasure and a privilege to write this letter of recommendation for John Wenger and Clear Sky Technologies. He would be an excellent person to hire for a weekly music series or music festival. John has been doing the United Bank Rogue River Blues Series for the City of Rockford since 2018. During this time, I have had the opportunity to observe and evaluate his work and also get to know him personally. He even stepped up when the city was designing a new stage and gave us valuable input from his perspective.
John is dedicated to providing an exceptional sound experience to our very well attended, large outdoor venue. He comes early and stays late and is always willing to let the show go a little longer putting the bands and audience first when it comes to encores. He has also been great to work with when inclement weather is on the horizon. We have started many shows with tarps in place when it would have been much easier to cancel, and I appreciate that. There’s nothing worse as an organizer than cancelling a show and then the sun comes out. His flexibility has been outstanding.
He also has a great working relationship the bands. Many of the bands that I hire know John and are happy to hear that he will be providing our PA. John has a pleasant and friendly personality which makes it easier for new bands that are performing at our venue. He is a true professional that is always prepared for the band that will be performing at our venue. If a stage plot has not been provided, John will do the research and have a plan in mind before the act arrives. Our sound checks are done in a timely matter and we have never started a show late, unless the band wasn’t ready.
